Whenever a project is accepted, there are three key elements that must be verified so that we can conduct the permit expediting process smoothly and efficiently.
Address or Parcel ID Number
Scope of Work
Timeline
ADDRESS OR PARCEL ID NUMBER OF PERMIT APPLICATION
Having the specific address of a proposed project allows us to research which jurisdiction the project falls under. Different jurisdictions typically require a different permit application process therefore it’s important for us to understand who we will be working with.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Scope of Work on a proposed project describes the work that is to be performed. For example, changing the signage on the exterior of a retail store or adding of a gas line to a restaurant space. Through understanding the Scope of Work on a project, we can determine the permit process we’ll need to adhere to as well as the planning department(s) we’ll be submitting to. For example, we may be applying through the Planning, Public Works, Fire, and Health departments for a project with a larger scope of work.
PROJECTED TIMELINE
Finally, a project’s projected timeline helps us get a better idea of the project’s feasibility and potential permitting costs. Some jurisdictions allow applicants to pay higher application fees for an expedited review while others strictly require you to wait in line.
Following these steps allows us to set our clients up for a smooth permitting process with minimal unexpected issues.
